Feel like volunteering some time?

All you need to join our ‘crew' as a volunteer is enthusiasm and commitment.

We will teach you everything you need to know so that you feel confident in speaking to museum visitors.

There is a whole range of activities that you can undertake during your time with us, and most crew have taken a hand in all aspects of volunteering. This may be taking groups through the museum, undertaking research in preparation for new displays, seeing that the gardens and buildings are clean and tidy, or you might enjoy making model boats and sharing your expertise with others.

Volunteer Trevor Hollins has produced - in true artificer style - two cannon ‘trucks' that now house the small 4-pounder replica cannon donated to the museum in 2000. Trevor undertook some research to ensure that the small trucks were exact replicas on a smaller scale.

They have now been very effectively positioned on the deck facing across the water.
